About the project

Project context

Key details:

Project Start Date: 1st September 2024

Project End Date: 31st August 2026

Total Duration: 24 months

Context and objectives:

Rooted in the principles of equality and inclusion, this project responds to global concerns over the underrepresentation of women in fields like STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and broader societal challenges linked to gender inequality. Studies show that young girls often perceive themselves as less capable than boys in various domains, leading to a gender gap in career opportunities and achievements. The project aims to raise awareness about gender equality, empower young women to make informed career choices, and challenge biases among teachers, parents, and society at large.

Key objectives include:

  • Raising awareness about gender equality and dismantling stereotypes.
  • Empowering young women to explore non-traditional career paths.
  • Providing teachers and parents with tools to counteract unconscious biases.
  • Utilizing innovative educational technologies, such as VR and digital storytelling, to create engaging and impactful learning experiences.
  • Promoting transnational collaboration and the sharing of best practices among educators, students, and institutions.

Project activities:

The project employs a range of activities designed to engage students, teachers, and parents. Key initiatives include:

  • Development of e-Modules and LMS: Creation of online learning modules and a Learning Management System to provide accessible resources on gender equality.
  • VR Experiences: Designing Virtual Reality scenarios that allow students to immerse themselves in the life stories of successful women, enabling them to envision diverse career possibilities.
  • Digital Stories: Students will produce digital stories showcasing role models, helping them internalize narratives of effort and success over gender limitations.
  • Workshops and Webinars: Interactive sessions for teachers, parents, and students to foster open discussions on gender stereotypes and their impact.
  • Student-Created e-Magazine: Students from partner countries will collaborate to produce an online magazine, sharing their reflections and aspirations related to gender equality.
  • Dissemination of Results: Activities such as conferences, e-journals, and digital platforms will ensure the sustainability and broader impact of the project’s findings.
