WP2R1 Educational modules on gender equality – a guide for teachers and parents

Science and innovation drive the progress of society. To achieve sustainable development and tackle global challenges, we need diverse perspectives in science. However, despite progress in gender equity, women remain underrepresented in many scientific fields. Encouraging female students to explore and excel in science is not only a matter of equity but also a critical step toward unleashing the full potential of human talent. This guide focuses on empowering educators and parents to take active roles in shaping young girls’ confidence and interest in science, enabling them to break through cultural and systemic barriers.

WP2R2 Learning Management System that contains e-learning version of the modules and trainings (linked to E-learning course: Overcoming barriers in female students’ participation in science education)

The overarching goal of the 10-module course is to empower teachers and parents to recognize and address the barriers that female students face in studying science subjects, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for girls to thrive academically and personally in STEM fields.

Specific goals:

  • Increase awareness of gender disparities in science education and their cultural and systemic roots.
  • Equip participants with practical tools and strategies to encourage girls to pursue and excel in science.
  • Foster collaboration between teachers and parents to create a cohesive support system for female students.
  • Promote long-term cultural and institutional change in attitudes toward gender and science education.
